Making healthy lifestyle changes can seem like a very daunting task. Where do I start? How long is this going to take? Will I even be able to do this? What if I fail? OMG! WHAT IF I FAIL!?!?!
The good news is, YOU ONLY FAIL WHEN YOU STOP TRYING. . . Until then, you're just finding ways that work for you and ways that don't! How great is that!! It's like dating, you date to ultimately find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Along the way you learn what you like, what you don't like. You find out what boundaries serve you best, what you are willing to budge on and what you aren't willing to budge on.
Learning to live a healthy lifestyle that best serves you is pretty similar. You learn what food works for you, what exercise you like best, (this can change a lot). You put boundaries into play like, "I'm willing to change the time I workout today, but I'm not willing to miss my workout." And "I'm willing to make something just a little bit different for my dinner than for my family, but I'm not willing to change my eating habits because my kids don't like veggies." You are working towards finding what will ultimately serve you best on your journey to healthy happy life.
This is going to look so different for everyone, and that's okay. Get really real with yourself and the healthy changes you want to make in your life. What do you they look like? How do you feel when you think about them? How are these changes going to improve your life? Because they will, but don't be afraid because you don't know what they are yet. . . . embrace the process, embrace the change, and celebrate all that you are and all that you have accomplished on the journey.
You are amazingly courageous for taking the first step to making healthy lifestyle changes, don't forget that! And don't be afraid, on the other side of fear is everything you wanted and more.
