So what did I do?? I got rid of my full length mirror in my closet, when I'm at the studio training clients I try and stay in the areas where I can't look in the mirror and critique my body. That one is a work in progress, there are 3 pretty big mirrors in the studio so I kind of have to hide from them LOL. I unliked all the motivational fitness pages on Facebook that always have half naked super fit woman posted on them, stopped looking at the health & fitness page on Pinterest and unfollowed all of the fitness pages on there as well. Turns out they weren't as motivational as I thought they would be, and soon they started getting into my head and making me feel like crap about myself.
I really started thinking about how I was talking to myself, what was I saying to myself everyday to help me feel better about myself. Turned out that there really wasn't a lot, so I've started being nicer to myself and finding the parts of me that I do love and think looks good when I'm naked. Talking to myself the way I would talk to a friend that was not feeling so good about their body image. You wouldn't tell a friend they looked disgusting or that you thought they looked fat. So why would you say that to yourself??
I've also noticed that if I don't make time for me, or make time to have fun it also really affects how I feel about myself. And of course getting any type of activity in daily is so much better than not doing anything. I started planning my workouts on Monday for the week that way I know I will do it.
Everyone wants to look good naked and feel sexy weather it's for yourself, your spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend, or the coworker you have a crush on. What makes you feel sexy now?? What makes you feel good about yourself?? Think back to a time when you felt sexy , when you felt good when you looked at your naked body in the mirror. When was that, and what were you doing?? What has changed in your life since then and how can you adapt to the way things are now to get back to that feeling??
Embrace the body you have now it is after all the only one you have, you might as well learn to love it and change it to what you want. Go for a walk in the sun, look in the bathroom mirror (not the full length one) and tell yourself how hot you look with a little wink ;) Once you start feeling good on the inside the work to look good on the outside won't seem so overwhelming.
